Jedidiyah is the Research, Design and Support Head at Anantgram Farms, a single-source, 125-acre permaculture farm in Anantapur, AP.
Our session, "DesSertification," is a walkthrough into how we've applied Permaculture in a semiarid, alkaline, calcareous landscape and stewarded into a flourishing, edible and productive ecosystem. Over 6 years, we've faced extreme weather, from scorching heat (15-43oC) to heavy rains (5inch in 24 hrs), and navigated through the trials of a pandemic. Despite these challenges, our commitment to regenerative farming has been unwavering, consistently delivering fresh, chemical-free produce every week, all year-long for the past 261 weeks. This journey has not only revitalized the land but also attracted an astonishing diversity of life, including 157 bird species. Our efforts serve as a compelling justification for the effectiveness of permaculture methods in achieving food and water security while combating desertification.
Join us to explore this transformative story, brimming with reverence for nature and the satisfaction of nurturing a once-barren land, through designs, implementations, reports, and personal experiences, Let's embark on this exploration together, inspired by the purpose and possibilities inherent in Permaculture.
